Protection of your personal data.

We need to educate you, so let's get on with it:

If you are our client, we need your personal data to represent you. Failure to provide personal information may affect our ability to provide quality legal services. We obtain personal data about you from you, from publicly available sources, from public authorities or from other persons.

If you are not our client, your personal data may be obtained from third parties, from our clients, from publicly available sources and registers, from public authorities, by your own activities, etc. In this case, we may obtain personal data about you without your consent, without informing you and even against your will, the law allows us to do so.

We process personal data in accordance with the provisions of Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on the Protection of Personal Data and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts (hereinafter also referred to as the "Act"):

  • for the performance of contractual obligations or pre-contractual obligations (Section 13(1)(b) of the Act)
  • to fulfil a legal obligation (§ 13(1)(c) of the Act):
  • for the protection of legitimate interests (Section 13(1)(f) of the Act):

By using our services, you consent to the use of your business and personal data for purposes such as direct or indirect marketing. You have the right to object to this processing of your personal data at any time. By visiting our website, you consent to the use and collection of data about you through all cookies. By using the contact form, you consent to the use and processing of the data you provide in it. By any communication to us, including applying for employment, you consent to us using the personal data you provide to us to the extent appropriate.

If you have given us consent to the processing of your personal data in any form, the processing is only for the purposes set out in the consent statement and to the extent agreed in the consent statement. The consent given may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. This will not affect the lawful processing of your personal data prior to the withdrawal of consent.

The retention period of personal data always varies depending on the reason for processing. We only process personal data for as long as the purpose for which we need it.

After this period, the personal data shall be destroyed.  

We retain written and electronic communications for 10 years from receipt or 10 years from the last action taken in the case, whichever is later. We retain attorney files for 10 years after they are closed and archived.

There are some exceptions for lawyers regarding the retention period of personal data, for example:

  • the client file containing the original documents handed over to the lawyer by the client cannot be shredded
  • the client file or part of it, which the lawyer is obliged to hand over to the state archive, cannot be shredded;
  • it is not possible to shred a client file if any proceedings are conducted before a court, a state administration authority, law enforcement authorities, the Slovak Bar Association, which are related to the content of the client file 

As a data subject, you have the following rights in relation to the processing of your personal data:

  • Right to information
  • Right to repair
  • Right to erasure
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to portability of personal data
  • Right to object
  • Right to withdraw consent
  • The right to file a complaint - to file a petition to initiate proceedings with the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic.
