Phuket has it all. For everyone.
There are many beautiful places to visit in Thailand, but we are sure that Phuket is the most diverse place that can offer something for everyone.
Starting with backpackers, a huge number of 2-star and 3-star guesthouses, luxury hotels, resorts, or luxury villas.
Beautiful beaches, big temples, lots of shopping places, restaurants, street food.
If you like nightlife, Bangla road in Patong is the most famous "walking street" in Phuket and in the whole of Thailand you will find only two similar. As well as a number of clubs and bars, it is also home to Illuzion club, which is currently number 11 in the world club rankings.
On the other hand, there are many much quieter and more pleasant places to stay in Phuket such as Karon, Kamala, Surin, Rawai or Kata.
In short, everyone will find something in Phuket for their full satisfaction and the most colorful holiday.
... and maybe you will put down roots here, just like we did...
Phuket is the perfect place to explore Thailand and Asia.
Phuket is a great starting point for short, spontaneous trips to other parts of southern Thailand - Koh Samui, Krabi, Koh Phangan, Phi phi islands.
By air you can quickly travel to any other place in Thailand such as Pattaya, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai or other cities.
Fancy learning more about Asia? The international airport makes it quick and affordable to transfer to other countries in Southeast Asia or further afield.
A digital nomad? A family with kids?
Digital nomads, telecommuters and everyone else who needs to be online all day - Phuket has amazing mobile data coverage (again, at very affordable prices) and AIS (formerly 3BB) provides excellent stable fibre optic internet in almost all locations on Phuket.
There are quite large communities of foreigners speaking English, Russian, French and Italian in the various towns on the island, so you can always make new friends.
For families, Phuket has several international schools with high standards. It is also no problem to find a skilled nanny, housekeeper, cook or gardener for those who need to devote themselves to their own affairs.
These are all reasons why we would recommend Thailand and especially Phuket as the number 1 place in the world. Whether for a longer holiday, part time living in the winter, or relocation and retirement.
Phuket is safe and has top-notch healthcare at an international level.
Phuket is a safe place to live. Generally people are nice and all day and night you will meet police officers who are given a lot of respect. Not for nothing is Thailand nicknamed the land of smiles.
In case of a health problem, accident or medical emergency, you can rely on quality hospital and medical care, for example at Bangkok hospital in Phuket town.
Phuket is easy to fly to from anywhere, including Slovakia.
Phuket International Airport is a destination for all major airlines, with flights from most major airports (Qatar Airlines, Emirates), from Russia (Aeroflot) as well as many direct flights.
High-level banking system
Thailand has a modern and very well developed banking system with many banks offering a reliable and safe way to handle your money.
In our experience, the system is less time-bound than in many European countries. What clients appreciate most is that, for example, an account-to-account transfer is usually executed and confirmed within 1 minute in any domestic bank, even between different banks. Hidden fees? Don't look for those in domestic banks, as well as most fees.
International transfers work smoothly, within a few days, just like in Europe. At the same time, there are established networks for working with cryptocurrencies.
In Thailand, it is possible to retire after 50.
Thailand has long provided one-year visas for people who want to retire or just live in Thailand and are over 50 years old.
From September 2022, to encourage post-Covide spending, the Thai government has even introduced a new special visa for solvent retirees who are eligible to stay in Thailand for 10 years.
In 2024, visa conditions were relaxed again, with the addition of 5-year visas for specialised professions and digital nomads.
